Pursuing diversity from the podium: Exploring the works of Australian women for your high school band

The Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra will perform an exciting program of works selected by the conductor, including Dvorák's nostalgic Symphony No.9, From the New World under the baton of Dr Peter Morris, Head of Ensemble at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith Univerity and Fire by Elena Kats-Chernin conducted by DMA Candidate, Stefanie Smith.

The Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra consists of approximately ninety of the most talented young instrumentalists in Queensland. The orchestra performs a variety of works, from traditional symphonic and operatic works to new commissions and contemporary programs. Resident conductor Dr Peter Morris shares the podium each year with local and international guest conductors to expose the students to a wide variety of the very best conductors. This list of distinguished guest conductors and soloists has included Peter Sculthorpe, John Curro, Nicholas Braithwaite, Sir Neville Marriner, Larry Rachleff, Thomas Hinds, Robert Casteels, Graham Abbot, Luis Haza, Michael Morgan, Andrew Mogrelia, Jessica Cottis, Nicholas Cleobury, Fabian Russell, Peter Luff, Johannes Fritzsch and Elim Chan.
