Make it happen, make it matter: building, developing and maintaining a successful instrumental program
5th Oct 2018 10:30 am - 11:30 am
This session is designed to offer participants an opportunity to explore the creation of musical imagery and character from musical examples, score reading and listening and how to effectively communicate this to your ensemble. Developing conductors often ask how can they move away from beating time and be able to develop ideas and gestures to communicate a greater level of musical information, such as image, intent and character through their conducting and work towards a higher level of artistry. In an interactive format, participants will undertake activities aimed to help them find the musical meaning in the examples and develop ideas and skills to be able to show this clearly and effectively from the podium.
