Stefanie Smith is a current DMA candidate, studying conducting under Dr Peter Morris, having completed her Master of Music Studies in Conducting at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University in January 2017. Stefanie graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Music in 2005, studying clarinet under Paul Dean. Stefanie is an alumnus of the 2004 Symphony Australia Conductor Development Program and, as part of this program, worked with The Queensland Orchestra and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and renowned conductors Christopher Seaman and Johannes Fritsch. She has participated in international conducting masterclasses in Olomouc, Czech Republic and Singapore with Maestro Charles Olivieri-Munroe and the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra and Douglas Bostock with the Singapore Armed Forces Band respectively. Since 2006, Stefanie has been the Conductor and Musical Director of the Brisbane Symphonic Band. She has successfully directed this ensemble in competitions, local and international performances. Stefanie is the Young Conservatorium Ensemble Coordinator and Coordinator of Woodwind, Brass and Percussion, and conducts the Woodwind Ensemble, Wind Orchestra, and Symphony Orchestra.
